Vorshlag TrackPro Suspension Kit (S197 Mustang)

Introduction

If you've looked at the StreetPro package, using the standard springs in the H&R Street Performance kit and wanted better spring rates that were more balanced and tailored to track use, this is the kit for you. We swap out the H&R springs that are too soft up front and too stiff in the rear for our track tested 450 lb/in front and 175 lb/in rear spring rates. This change in spring rate dramatically reduces brake dive and roll in corners vs any "lowering spring" offered for this chassis!

This kit is built around the H&R monotube struts, shocks and ride height adjusters. We add front and rear Eibach springs that match the H&R parts, a pair of Vorshlag camber plates, and heavy duty Bilstein rear shock mounts.

Top: Soft and tall OEM suspension = excessive body roll and tire wear. Bottom: Flatter cornering with higher spring rates + better dampers, and more front negative camber.

A good percentage of S197 Mustang buyers are looking for a lower ride height and firmer spring rates and better damping, but don't want or need damping adjustments or a $5000 coilover kit. If you are reading this, you might be one of those folks. Maybe you want to compete in some autocrosses or HPDE track events? Or you have a favorite canyon road you want to attack without the marshmallow Mustang suspension letting the car flop around?

In order to handle well for performance driving, you need to lower the center of gravity (cg), increase spring rates over stock (especially up front), use better dampers (monotubes, not twin tubes), and add negative camber up front (adjustable camber plates). If this sounds like what you need, Vorshlag has the answer, with a German made set of H&Rs and our tweaked spring rates and adjustable camber-caster plate top mounts.

This H&R Street Performance kit, tuned up with a more balanced spring package is a ready-to-install suspension for a multipurpose S197 Mustang. The shortened H&R inverted monotube struts and rear shocks are paired with a set of Eibach springs. This kit offers ride height adjustment, on the strut in the front and at the stock spring location in the rear. They will come assembled, ready to install. Having this system pre-assembled by Vorshlag means it does not require a spring compressor to install.

Key Features

  • Monotube front struts that utilize 36mm dia. pistons and 40mm inverted shafts that maximize deflection resistance under hard cornering loads
  • Front struts are 1.5" shorter than the OEM length, for more bump travel at the lower ride height (from the matched lowering springs)
  • Monotube rear shocks that utilize new OEM-style rear upper shock mounts
  • Rear shocks are 1.75" shorter than the OEM length
  • Nitrogen charged for exceptional fluid foaming resistance on track
  • The TrackPro kit is 10.9 lbs lighter than the StreetPro kit
  • Valved for a comfortable street ride, with improved track performance, lower cg, and adjustable front alignment specs
  • No valving adjustment on the dampers - less to fiddle with!
  • This system fits all 2005-2014 Mustang V6, Mustang GT, GT500, and Mustang Boss302 models.
  • Four corner ride height adjustment, to get the stance where you want and also to set corner balance
  • Great price for a complete damper/spring/camber plate suspension kit

Standard Parts Included:

  • Vorshlag Camber Plates
  • 2 Front H&R inverted monotube struts, inverted shaft, height adjustable
  • 2 Front 450 lb/in springs
  • 2 Bilstein HD rear shock mounts
  • 2 Rear H&R monotube shocks
  • 2 Rear ride height adjusters
  • 2 Rear 175 lb/in springs
  • Pair of spring perch adjuster wrenches

Ride heights are adjustable, front and rear, for a level stance that dramatically improves the look of any S197. This set-up is popular because it offers good ground clearance and a balanced demeanor for performance use.

RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL PARTS: Since this kit will lower the car, the anti squat geometry is affected. To restore some of the anti-squat, we recommend adding rear relocation brackets to the lower arms at the axle. This Whiteline Relocation Bracket Kit is easy to install and works with the stock arms.

OPTIONAL ORIGINAL SPRINGS: The only option we offer with this kit is the original H&R springs. They come with the base Street Performance kit, but are removed for the Eibach springs. We normally do not send the original springs, but if you'd like them, we can package them up in their own box and send them as an option.
