This cart entry is for the complete transmission crossmember assembly built by Vorshlag Motorsports for use with the BMW E36 Right Hand Drive (RHD) chassis in our LS swap kit. This can be used with either a 1998-2002 Camaro Borg Warner T56 or a T56 Magnum 6-spd transmission. This crossmember is made to work with either of these transmissions behind an LS1 V8 in an Right Hand Drive E36 chassis, using Vorshlag RHD LS swap engine mounts. This crossmember is sold outright here as well as in our Stage 0 E36 RHD LS1 swap kit.
This entry includes the fabricated transmission crossmember, an Energy Suspensions polyurethane trans mount busing. This is made using CNC cut plate steel that is fitted together like a jig-saw, then TIG welded on our production fixtures. This is 100% made in-house here at Vorshlag.
You can see how tight the pieces fit together, above. Once these are seam welded the assembly is powder coated black. We recommend using this Transmission Crossmember Kit with our E36 RHD LS Motor Mount Kit for the ideal engine and transmission placement and driveline angles.
- Transmission crossmember for Tremec T56 or T56 Magnum to be used in a RHD BMW E36 chassis
Energy Suspension Polyurethane transmission bushing with hardware
- M10 bolts and washers for mounting transmission to crossmember
IDENTIFY YOUR T56
Not all 6-speed transmissions are supported in our LS / T56 RHD E36 swap, and none of the automatics are. Lots of people like to call the various GM 6-speed manual transmissions "T56" and the name "Magnum" is thrown around by transmission rebuilders. The 1998-2002 LS1 powered Camaro/Firebired used a Borg Warner T56 6-speed manual shown below. That is one of two options supported supported with this crossmember. We don't recommend this transmission because they are now very old and you can almost guarantee it needs to be rebuilt. Even when it was new 20+ years ago it was only rated at 400 ft-lbs of torque. The problem is the used T56 core transmission price + rebuild costs can easily exceed the cost of a brand new "Tremec T56 Magnum", which is rated at a much higher torque value.
This is an OEM 1998-2002 Camaro/Firebird LS1 "Borg Warner T56" 6-speed Transmission
Another option is the brand NEW T56 Magnum made by Tremec. This unit has virtually nothing in common with the 1998-2002 Camaro 6-speed and we wish they had given it a completely different name! It is normally used in conjunction with a 1998-2002 Camaro bellhousing (even though it doesn't mate up one of the mounting holes). That is the second of two transmission options supported with this crossmember. We sell this BRAND NEW transmission in two ratio options, as well as the associated bellhousing needed to mate it to a GM LS engine. The Tremec T56 Magnum is rated at 700 ft-lbs of torque.

NOTES: This crossmember fits the mounting holes in a 1998-2002 Camaro T56 or the aftermarket Tremec T56 Magnum - not anything else. Not an automatic, not a 5th gen Camaro TR6060, not a GTO or Cadillac remote shifted box, not some random other transmission - just the two 6 speed manual transmissions we listed. The Vorshlag RHD E36 LS1 engine mounts, headers, and steering shaft are not included in this entry. This is a 7 pound shipment, with all packing materials and box included.
