Vorshlag is an Authorized dealer for Whiteline products and we know the E46 chassis well - we have raced and built many of these.
One of the sloppiest rubber bushings on the BMW E46 chassis is the in the front lower control arm bushings. The back of the lower control arm is held in place with a LARGE rubber bushing that allows for a lot of suspension movement under braking and cornering which only gets worse with age. Or as Whiteline puts it:
"Worn front control arm bushings have a big influence on vehicle stability, steering precision and braking efficiency. Replace worn bushings to "better than new" condition utilizing Whiteline's advanced synthetic elastomer bushings with core characteristics ensuring superior elasticity, memory and outright durability for all forms of driving applications."
This is one of the first things replaced when preparing an E46 for track use, and it can make a big enough difference to SEE when braking and FEEL on track. But this part of the control arm needs to rotate freely in this bushing, and solid polyurethane options here will bind and fail quickly.
A good solution to that is a 2-piece bushing, made with firmer urethane bushings that won't deflect under suspension loading but that allow the arm pivot smoothly without bind. The Whiteline W53518 M3 LCA bushing kit (W53519 non-M kit shown above) includes these 2-piece lower inner rear bushings and new aluminum lollipop housings. This makes installation a breeze as you don't have to disassemble an OEM bushing to re-use the housing.
Fits: BMW E46 M3 chassis (2000-06), one set needed per car.
