Vorshlag sells the TREMEC TKX for use with GM or Ford engine swaps - this unit can be used with our LS swap kits with the specific transmission crossmember. This transmission is brand new, rated for 600 ft-lbs of torque, and comes in three ratio options, two bellhousing bolt patterns and has options for input splines and shifter positions.
For the development of the new transmission, TREMEC engineers took a forward-looking approach to finding the best and most efficient solution. The result is superior shift-ability with smooth shifts at high RPMs through the use of multi-cone synchronizers and hybrid synchronizer rings. At the same time, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance is optimized with a gear layout to best control stress levels, while providing structural stiffness with a ribbed, 3-piece aluminum housing. Durability is further optimized with oversized gear widths, gaskets at all flanges and caged needle bearings in all gear positions.
This new entry in TREMEC's high performance line-up, the TKX 5-speed transmission is able to withstand a massive 600 lb-ft. of torque while providing unbelievably crisp shifts, this 5-speed offers the strength, versatility, and shift feel of the T-56 Magnum in an easier to retrofit package. The TKX is an ideal replacement for cars that use the various T5 and TKO transmission and is sized to replace older 4-speeds or weaker 5-speeds without having to modify the tunnel to fit an oversized gearbox

There are three shift locations on the TKX. The standard shift tower can be repositioned for a middle and rear positioned shifter. With additional parts a shifter can be installed in a front position.
The shifter is 25.75" from the front of the bellhousing when configured in the rear position. When the shift tower is reversed the shifter moves about 3" forward.
The weight and size of the TKX makes it ideal for swaps or retrofits into cars with tight space constraints. The TKX scaled at 95.9 lbs. It's pictured below on a postal scale and next to a TREMEC T56 Magnum XL (128.0 lbs) for size comparison.

The TKX comes in three different gearing options. Choose the one that you feel is a appropriate for your build. It also comes in two bellhousing patterns and an option for the early Ford 10-spline input shaft.
1. The TKX is usually in stock at our warehouse and can ship quickly.
2. The proper bellhousing for use with an LS engine is sold separately and shown in this same web store section.
3. For all TKX 5-speed models, TREMEC recommends TREMEC High Performance Manual Transmission Fluid (HP-MTF), GM Synchromesh or Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. Fluid capacity is 2.7 quart / 2.6 liter.
4. This shipment is heavy enough that it must ship via freight truck - which adds $0 to a business address with fork lift service or $100.00 to residential address in the lower 48 United States (lift gate service). That price is shown in the options. Call for more details or other shipping options.
