Tremec T56 Magnum XL 6-speed manual, GM Pilot Bushing for: S550/S197, 86, Z4 LS swap


Vorshlag has teamed up with Tremec to get the right transmission built for the S197 / S550 Mustang, BRZ / FR-S / 86 as well as our BMW Z4 LS swaps.

NOTE: The 'XL' version of the T56 Magnum is 5.5" longer than the regular T56 Magnum. This added length is required for some swap due to the length from the firewall to factory shifter hole, like on the 86 chassis, Mustang S197 and S550, or the BMW Z4

The T56 Magnum XL checks all the right boxes for strength, durability, and fit within this 86 or BMW Z4 chassis.  The T56 Magnum XL can withstand up to 700 lb-ft of torque which makes it a perfect candidate for a fully built track car, but also offers offers smooth shifts perfect for your street sleeper.  This Magnum XL transmission comes with parts to work with a GM LS engine (a different pilot bushing is added) and is offered in two different gear ratios. 

The T56 Magnum XL gives the perfect length to align with the stock shifter location, making it work well for for the the BRZ / FR-S chassis or BMW Z4 and an accompanying Vorshlag LS V8 swap kit. This makes for very limited trimming of the shifter opening in the transmission tunnel. This transmission includes a Tremec shifter base (as shown in these pictures) but no shift handle or knob.

We pick the "Wide" ratio box for street cars, as 5th and 6th gears allow for highway cruising with low RPMs and good gas mileage. The "Close" ratio box is better for dedicated track cars, as the 2nd and 3rd gear ratios are more suitable for use on a road course.


NOTES:

1. This T56 Magnum XL for GM use is built to order and takes 2-4 weeks to be built and shipped.

2. The proper bellhousing for the S197/S550 Mustang, BRZ/FR-S/86 or BMW Z4 LS swap is sold separately and shown in this same web store section.

3. This transmission uses 3.2 liters (3.4 quarts) Dexron III ATF. We recommend the Motul version found on our site here: Motul DEXRON III Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 Liter

This shipment is heavy enough that it must ship via freight truck - which is included in the price for a business address with fork lift service or $200.00 to residential address in the lower 48 United States (lift gate service).
